I’m thrilled to be able to share videos of not one but two of the new songs I’ll be recording on my next album! First of all, here’s “I’m Slowing Down As I Get Older (And That’s Good)” performed live in my garage, which I hope will very soon become my new home studio. Please do contribute on my GoFundMe page if you’d like to help make that happen — I’m offering thank-you gifts for donors ranging from signed CDs and LPs to FREE DOWNLOADS FOR LIFE of all my future recorded output, handwritten and illustrated lyrics, guitar lessons, livestreamed concerts and more.
It was Martin who suggested (as we were driving back to Cornwall from Harwich at the end of my five-week Germany/Benelux tour) that we unload our gear from the van straight into the unfinished space to shoot the above video before we packed it all away again — it was a brilliant idea and I’m determined that this will be the first of many Garage Sessions videos recorded, filmed, mixed and edited by Martin! I can’t wait to start working with him on the new album.
And here’s the second of the two videos I mentioned. Back in January I was honoured to be interviewed by Sam Millar on The UK Americana Bar Show (if you missed it, you can watch both Part 1 and Part 2 of the interview on the Video page of my website) … and also gave “Too Many Plates To Juggle” its world online debut (with much silliness and audience participation courtesy of Sam and Martin):
Meanwhile I’ve been enjoying being home with my family (our youngest is home from university for the Easter holidays, and his older brother will be joining us on Thursday from Milton Keynes, where he’s working as a trainee archaeologist with Cotswold Archaeology) — going for lots of walks and working hard in the garden, trying to get as much weeding and planting done as I can before I head away on tour again. Here are a couple of before-and-after photos, plus a lovely flower on my mother’s camellia bush (she planted it back in the early 1990s, when she was still alive and this was her home, and I think of her every time I look at it) … and a pic of our cat Nightshine sitting in the wheelbarrow which has drawn far more attention on social media than anything else I’ve posted lately:

And just after Easter I’ll be embarking on a seven-week tour in Ireland and the UK which will be the busiest run of shows I’ve had in a long time — have a look at the list of dates below! Not many nights off there ….

As always, you’ll find details of all the gigs on the Tour page of my website, and you can also follow me on Bandsintown to get notifications about concerts near you. Please do tell your friends about any shows you think might interest them, please do book in advance if you can, and once again please do consider contributing to my crowdfunder for the new album and studio if you haven’t done so already! I’m very, very grateful for your support.
All the best,
Sarah
